Name Meaning

His surname "Tsuji-" is comprised of two characters; "Tsuji" means "crossroad", and "Wara" means "field", owing to the geographic location of his family home in a field near a crossroad.  At the time the family name was chosen, the crossroad was heavily traveled as a bridge stretched over the river to the south, but the bridge has since been destroyed.  "Makoto" was chosen for the meaning "sincerity", and is written with one character.  The name is written as follows:
